In the last few months, photographs of Shahid Kapoor with actresses including Sonakshi Sinha, Nargis Fakhri and Jacqueline Fernandez, have made their way into the tabloids, online portals and even grabbed television airtime. While Shahid, an eligible, 33-year-old bachelor, may get away with being seen as a ladies' man, the ladies aren't too pleased with the unsolicited attention coming their way.
Revealed a friend of one of the actresses, "Shahid is not even a close friend of Sonakshi, Nargis or Jacqueline. It's just that they just happened to be at the same place at the same time and were clicked together."
Speaking on condition of anonymity, another actress told Mirror, "It is very unsettling to find yourself in the limelight with a man you have no connection with. There is a lot of explaining a girl has to do to her family and friends."
Worried about the public perception that these "late-night outings" are creating, she pointed out that while these link-ups could be a high for Shahid, the girls wouldn't want to be perceived as someone's "date" when they are nowhere close to being one.
We had heard of Shahid taking Sonakshi out on a late-night drive after her birthday party but a source present at the bash told Mirror that he wasn't even on the guest list and Sonakshi was upset that his inadvertent presence there once again fuelled speculations that she was trying to squash.
In an interview to Mirror the actress when asked about her link-up with Shahid had said, "I guess it was because our jodi in R... Rajkumar was liked. We are not even in touch with each other now."
Jacqueline too laughed off the rumours, saying, "Shahid is an acquaintance. I really don't know him beyond that."
Shahid who has not been in a committed relationship since he and Priyanka Chopra broke up, is equally annoyed and embarassed by the link-ups. Shahid couldn't be reached but a friend of the actor said, "It's unfortunate that if there's anyone with a man in a car who is not another male or if he is spotted with a female, people just jump to the conclusion that they are dating. It's stupid and can get pretty annoying and even embarrasing at times because the person could be a close friend, a distant relative or someone he could work with in the future."
However, the friend adds that Shahid understands and empathises with these actresses because being linked can make a girl uncomfortable as she is answerable to a lot of people. At the same time, Shahid doesn't believe that the Cassanova image can benefit him as an actor.
So, is he a real-life Casanova or just a misrepresented one?
