On the personal front his relationship with Kareena has been blossoming for a long time now. No wonder, Kapoor junior is a happy man.
"In my career so far, I have had three releases. Now, I have three in a few weeks! I didn't want to do too many films but the offers are getting better and better. I'd be foolish to refuse Sooraj Barjatya, Abbas-Mustan and Priyadarshan. I will have seven releases in the coming year. It's a crucial time for me," he exclaims with joy.
Sooraj Barjatya who finds Shahid extremely talented gave him a six-hour narration before he signed him for his most ambitious project till date - Vivah.
"He went into the details of the dialogues, elaborated on how he wanted specific scenes to be done, sang the songs to me -- he gave me a complete picture. After many years, Soorajji is going back to his Maine Pyar Kiya roots," he gushes.
Ask him if he is comfortable working with Kareena and he retorts, "After Fida, we are doing Satish Kaushik's Milenge Milenge and Abbas-Mustan's 36, China Town. She scares me in some shots! She is so good I have to be on my toes constantly. A newcomer like me has to try twice as hard."
But isn't mixing pleasure and business a dangerous proposition?
Says Shahid, "We see it as a much-needed opportunity to be together. Right now, we are at a critical juncture in our careers. We see it as an advantage that we are doing so many films together. If we didn't have three films together, we would not be able to meet for months. And our relationship would have suffered."
"Even if we're on the sets with a lot of people, we still get to be near each other. We are very closely connected. Being together helps us grow. We've been together for two years. I feel our relationship is for keeps. She has filled me with a lot of confidence, security and maturity. I can't think of living without her today," he adds.
