Usually, it's the women stripping in front of the camera who whet our curiosity and get our attention, while the poor men are err... expected to keep their clothes on. Men, as we know, don't really make the most aesthetic of sights when stripped of their clothes.
However, defying convention, some men have stripped down leading to some great and some, let's say, terrible results. We rate the naked men of Bollywood going by their on-screen act.
Milind Soman
Film: The Valley of Flowers (2006)
Cause: Milind sported long hair and was bare-bodied for a lovemaking scene in The Valley of Flowers, in spite of having landed in trouble for nudity in a shoe ad that was shot in the '90s.
Effect: Milind looks hot, with or without clothes.
Rating: 8/10
Ranbir Kapoor
Film: Saawariya (2007)
Cause: It was Ranbir's debut film; he was young and innocent and he dropped a towel in front of the camera.
Effect: The scene was crackling, butt unfortunately since then, Ranbir seems to have made up his mind to cover up - be it his body or his secrets.
Rating: 8/10
John Abraham
Film: New York (2009)
Cause: John stripped naked for a scene in New York, where he is tortured in a bid to get him to reveal secrets about the terrorist group that he belongs to.
Effect: So comfortable is John with his body that this and his other butt-baring scene in Dostana were well appreciated.
Rating: 8/10
Neil Nitin Mukesh
Film: Jail (2009)
Cause: Neil was so carried away by Madhur Bhandarkar's film that he did not mind going the whole hog and stripping naked for a scene. The sequence showed him getting strip-searched by cops.
Effect: So white is the actor that one was tempted to wear shades inside the theatre.
Rating: 5/10
Rajkummar Rao
Film: Shahid (2013)
Cause: Giving a brilliant performance in Shahid, Rajkummar Rao was in the buff for a scene that showed him getting tortured by the police behind bars.
Effect: A truly realistic scene, this nudity, for once, seemed justified in the film.
Rating: 6/10
Rahul Bose
Film: Split Wide Open (1999)
Cause: An injured Rahul Bose goes around showing his butt, even as Anant Nag is talking to him in a scene in Dev Benegal's film.
Effect: Not bad except the untanned portion that made us wish that he had his brief on.
Rating: 5/10
