If sources are to be believed, Vivek Agnihotri's upcoming film Freedom, starring Salman Yusuff Khan in the lead role, has been shelved. Vivek Agnihotri last directed Hate Story in 2012 and is now working on a film with T-Series.
Freedom, shot mainly in Rajasthan, was supposed to release on August 15 last year. At that time, the makers had thought that it would be a good time to release the film considering its theme.
But now the buzz has it that the film has been shelved. The film's Delhi-based producers are said to be not so happy with all that has been shot. A source from the industry says, `The film was apparently not shot in the manner the producers wanted. The film is complete, but since the makers don't find it up to the mark, they don't want to spend more money on promoting and releasing the film.`
But another source says that the producers have sold the film to someone else. `The issue lies in the financial problems that the makers are facing and it doesn't have anything to do with the way the film has shaped up,` says the source.
When contacted, director Vivek Agnihotri said, ` I don't know the latest status about this project. I finished the film last year and sometime later, the producers sent me a letter saying that they have sold the film to someone else.
They are first-time producers from Delhi and I have moved on in life. In fact, I had approached the film association sometime back just to check on the project's status. No body is here at the producers' Mumbai office, so I don't know what exactly has transpired.`
