'Con' seems to be the buzzword in Bollywood these days with quite a few movies based on the theme hitting the screen - "Bunty Aur Babli", "Chocolate", "Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena" and, not to forget, "Bachke Rehna Re Baba".
Continuing the conman culture is Sippy's elegantly shot film, which has two subplots - one is romance and other is about the art of conning.
Abhhishek Bachchan, who plays the title role, is Roy, a professional conman who has raised his work to the level of an art. He is in love with Simmi (Priyanka Chopra).
His life moves smoothly till his past catches up with him, his girlfriend finds out his reality and dumps him.
That's when he meets Dittu (Ritesh Deshmukh) who is the counterpoint to everything that Roy is. But they have one thing in common - Dittu is a conman too though he is not as good as Roy. Hence, Dittu persuades him to take him under his wings and train him.
To take his mind off Simmi, he agrees to teach Dittu the rules of the game. In that process, he melts and warms up to the boyish charm of his student.
That's when his world turns topsy-turvy - Roy, who prides himself on being able to cheat anyone and anything, is pushed into a corner from where there is no exit.
Nana Patekar and Boman Irani will be seen in important roles in the film.
The director has experimented with the music by picking up old classics and re-mixing them. The film also features four compositions of the Britain-based band "Trickbaby", which has also shot a special video with Abhishek Bachchan.
"Bluffmaster" has all the right formulas - hope it succeeds in bringing the audience to theatres.
