In a strange situation, a make-up artists' union called off its protest against international make up artist Daniel Bauer for Katrina's film 'Phantom', fearing a backlash from Salman Khan

On Thursday morning, the Cine Costume & Make-up Artists Association landed up on the sets of Kabir Khan's film, Phantom, in order to protest against international makeup artist Daniel Bauer.

The shoot had started at Filmistan Studios at around 10am and the protesting artists reached Filmistan soon after. Turns out that they were protesting against Bauer, a favourite of A-listers such as Katrina Kaif, Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan and Deepika Padukone, since he has not registered with the association.

But a source says that they cancelled their protest fearing a reaction from Salman Khan.

It may be pointed out that the association's members had tried to protest on June 27, due to which shooting was stopped for a few hours till Katrina had called Salman to intervene. This time around, 15-20 artists gathered on the film's sets, but no one was apparently willing to lead the protest.

`No one came forward as they all feared that Salman will call again and that they would have to step back.` Sharad Shelar, President, Cine Costume & Make- up Artists Association, confirmed the news. He said, `Yes, the workers had gone to Filmistan to protest against Daniel Bauer, since he has been working with Bollywood stars despite not being a member of our association. But no one wanted to lead the protest as they were scared that Salman bhai would call again.

That said, we will soon have a meeting where we will decide how to stop this practice. A non-registered make-up artist cannot work on films in Mumbai.`
