Asha Bhosle, who turns 81 on September 8, will be performing live at Shanmukhananda Hall on September 14. Gopkumar Pillai of Peoples Arts Centre, that is organising the event, confirmed this. He said, "Ashaji will sing Hindi songs at Shankmukhananda Hall after nearly five years. Sudesh Bhosale is the only male singer to perform duets with her."
Percussionist Nitin Shankar, who has worked with RD Burman and Asha Bhosle on many occasions, will also be a part of the show. "She performed at the Dinanath Mangeshkar awards ceremony in April this year, but they were mostly Marathi songs. This is a proper stage show in the city after a gap of about five years," says Shankar. But he adds that they are yet to decide on the song list for the show.
Asha Bhosle recently launched her single, Bappa Morya, which features her granddaughter Zanai. The singer has cut down on singing for films but has been doing stage shows across the world.
