If sources close to the project are to be believed, Shekhar Kapur's ambitious film, Paani, will start rolling only next year. Turns out that the film's pre-production is on in full swing, but since it's a big scale project, there is apparently still some pre-production work left.
Says a source, `Shooting for Paani was supposed to start towards the end of the year, but some more pre-production work is left. Since it is a massive project, the film requires a lot of preparation and research. Accordingly, shooting for the film will start early next year.`
When contacted, director Shekhar Kapur said, `Well, you have to check that with Yash Raj Films, because we are into production now.`
YRF's spokesperson says, `Paani's prep is on in full swing and it is scheduled to start shooting in December.` But our source maintains that the shoot will start early next year.
Set in 2050, Paani tells the story of a time where water, a rare resource, is controlled by international corporations and thirst is used as weapon to control people. Shekhar Kapur has been working on this project for around 13 years now, but it has been stuck due to many reasons, including frequent cast changes and an exorbitant budget.
