The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) will not allow films to be shot either by
Bollywood or any organisation at Sikh religious places especially at the Harimandir Sahib (Golden
Temple), SGPC general secretary Sukhdev Singh Bhaur said here today.
Talking to newspersons, Mr Bhaur said permission could not be granted for the shooting of films as it
was against the religious code laid down by the Akal Takht Jathedar.
He criticised the Punjab government for inviting Bollywood directors and producers to shoot films at
the Golden Temple.
Mr Bhaur expressed his opinion on the reported announcement by the Punjab Toursim department to
open 99 monuments including 66 protected ones to Bollywood producers. These monuments include
the Golden Temple.
The Tourism department while taking this decision did not take the SGPC into confidence which
controls the Golden Temple and a number of other important gurdwaras.
