The film hit a rough patch because of the superstar's stomach surgery, but now Bachchan's recovery has brought back smile on the face of Chopra, who has cherished a great association with the star in the past few years.
"Amit is a very old friend of mine and all I can say for him at this point of time is that he should remain well and healthy. He is a very dedicated film actor. He puts everything into his work and that's what I love about him," Chopra said.
'Babul' is meant to be a blockbuster project as it features stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini, Rani Mukherjee, Salman Khan and John Abraham.
"Babul is the father of the bride and he (Amitabh) is playing the central character in the film. So, one can imagine how important he is for my film. It is basically the conversion of a father-in-law to the father of the bride," Chopra said.
Talking about his experiences on the sets, he said, "In the film, there are some scenes between Amitabh and Rani which have come out very beautifully. They both share a very good chemistry. It was a very beautiful experience working with Amitabh because for any director if the actor is ready to put his 100 percent what more he can ask for."
'Babul' ran into into trouble twice this year. First in July when rains in Mumbai disrupted the shoot, and then Bachchan's illness further resulted in the cancellation of shooting schedules. The film is now 50 percent complete, and one wishes there will be no further hassles for Chopra once Big B gets well and the movie moves along to the finishing line as planned.
Meanwhile, Ravi Chopra is all geared up to release the colored version of B.R. Chopra's 50s classic, 'Naya Daur', early next year. The project is in collaboration with US-based West Wing Studio Inc.
