"As an actress, I feel we are very greedy as we want to do all kinds of roles and I have also done a wide variety and range of roles. I have done lot of experimentation from 'Tehzeeb' to 'Tumsa Nahin Dekha', 'Tumko Na Bhool Payenge', 'Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein', 'Dum', 'Parineeta' and 'Dus'. It's been an interesting mix-bag and I will continue doing different roles as I do not like to have an image of a stereotype," said Dia.
On the going year, Mirza said, "2005 have broken the jinks. I had my first two hits. I can't call them my hit films but I was a part of two very big hits and I am looking forward to some independent solo blockbusters".
On the coming year 2006, Mirza said, "I am very satisfied and excited as I have signed some very good films. I am looking forward to start some really good work in 2006 and I think it will be a fantastic year for me."
Born on 9 December 1981, model-turned-actress Dia Mirza was formerly known as Diya Mirza. Born to a German father and Bengali mother, her parents got separated when she was only six-year-old. After her 10th boards, she took up a summer job with a computer firm. With this, she got a good break in marketing and started her career.
Soon after, modelling assignments from Emami and Lipton started coming to her. She then bagged the prestigious title of Miss Asia Pacific at the beauty pageant held on December two, 2000 in Manila and became the second Indian contestant to be crowned as Miss Asia Pacific.
Mirza never thought about a career in Bollywood but when she got the offer for Vashu Bhagnani's film 'Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein', she took the plunge. The film was a huge flop but her performance was appreciated. She had many good films to look forward to but some unwise career moves added to a sting of flops. After a series of flops, she tried her luck by doing intimate scenes in the movie 'Tumsa Nahin Dekha' but that didn't bring her any luck either.
However, 2005 gave her two hits- 'Parineeta' and 'Dus', though she has brief roles in both the films.
The light-eyed damsel Mirza though has not been very lucky so far but is sure to have a bright future ahead.
