If sources are to be believed, both Ranveer Singh and Ranbir Kapoor have been approached to star in the film adaptation of Chetan Bhagat's book, 'Half Girlfriend'.
Bhagat is all set to turn producer with this film. The author has joined hands with filmmaker Mohit Suri and producer Ekta Kapoor, both of whom will be on board as co-producers. A source close to the project says that the makers are keen to sign on either Ranveer Singh or Ranbir Kapoor for this film.
It may be pointed out here that Ranveer will soon start shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus, Bajirao Mastani, and accordingly, he has given bulk dates to the project. Ranbir, on the other hand, has Imtiaz Ali's Tamasha to finish followed by a couple of other films. Half Girlfriend apparently requires a Gen X heartthrob to headline the cast and while sources say that both actors want to be a part of the film, their dates have to be worked out.
Both Ranveer and Ranbir remained unavailable for the comment. When contacted, Tanuj Garg, CEO, Balaji Films, said, "Currently, the film's script development is in progress. Various casting options are being deliberated over. We will make a formal announcement once we are ready."
