Shah Rukh Khan apparently reached four hours late at an event in Chennai and the mediapersons decided to walk out on him. We figure out why Bollywood stars think it's fashionable to turn up late... very late

Punctuality has been an Achilles Heel for several stars. Be it for shooting or gracing an event, turning up on time is a virtue that they remain alien to.

On Friday, Shah Rukh Khan was supposed to reach a Chennai five-star by 4pm to promote his upcoming multi-starrer film, Happy New Year. However, he managed to reach only four hours later and livid journalists decided to boycott the event. They reportedly chose to stick around the venue till he arrived and then walked out on him to register their protest. It is said that Shah Rukh apologised for the delay and assured exclusive interviews to all of them but that did not cut ice with the furious mediapersons.

Of course, this wasn't the first time that the superstar made a late entry to an event. Earlier, for an endorsement announcement, SRK had reached the venue two-and-a-half hours late and apologised to the media, which had then shunned him by not asking any questions.

Hitlist throws light on a few particularly late latifs of B-Town...

Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor

Late date
The list of Bollywood latecomers runs long. There have been many stories of veteran actor, Govinda, keeping his film unit waiting for hours on end during his heydays.

Saif Ali Khan is another actor, who found himself at the receiving end of media's wrath. He was late by two hours for the marketing of his film in Delhi, Bullett Raja and when asked by the media to apologise, he lost his cool. He refused to bow to the pressure and reportedly said: "I will not apologise because it was not my fault.

Jacqueline Fernandez

I was stuck in a traffic jam. I should not be blamed for this chaos, and I feel stars should not come to Delhi. This is my last visit to Delhi and henceforth, I will give interviews from Mumbai." The media boycotted him and the event.

Salman Khan

Not again!
A few years ago, Saif and his lady love, Kareena Kapoor faced a similar situation when they walked into a city five star inordinately late for a media interaction regarding a shoe brand they endorse. The duo blamed it on the "crazy Mumbai traffic" and profusely uttered the 'sorry' word but the media chose to walk out.

Govinda

Taking for granted
Salman Khan may have been banned by photographers for pushing them at an event but he too likes to take his sweet time to start shooting, be it for films or his reality show. Even if he reports on the sets on time, he prefers to hang out with his staff and crew members for a couple of hours and then get the cameras rolling. The Salman-media conflict is yet to be resolved with the star appearing hesitant to make the first move.

No love lost
Only a few months ago, Shraddha Kapoor had to bear the brunt of a photographers' ban for allegedly making them wait for hours for a click. On the sets of a reality show, where the young actress was promoting her film, Ek Villain, she fought shy of shutterbugs as her PR team insisted that she complete the shoot first. The show's publicist asked photographers to wait for at least a couple of hours to click her, angering them. They then stopped taking her photos at all events. Finally, it was Shraddha's father, Shakti Kapoor's intervention that led to a truce with the media.

Apology accepted
Actress Jacqueline Fernandez has been a victim of media's rage once when she arrived for an event two hours late. But Jacqueline immediately resolved the issue by personally apologising to the mediapersons and requested them to stay back.

Choosing to respect time...
There are some stars who make it a point to always reach on time for public appearances...

Aamir Khan is a perfectionist and when it comes to punctuality, he does not believe in compromising. He means business - he always comes on time and leaves on time.

Aamir Khan

Amitabh Bachchan is one of the busiest actors in the industry but does not like to keep anyone waiting. He is known to reach on time on the film sets as well as events, which keeps everyone on their toes. Sometimes he reaches for interviews before the interviewee does.

Amitabh Bachchan

Akshay Kumar believes in the adage, 'Early to bed and early to rise...' and prefers to wrap up his work early so that he can hit the sack by 10pm. And for that, he reaches everywhere on time and at times, with the help of quick means of transport-from ferry boats and yachts to sea planes and chartered flights.

Akshay Kumar

Much like Akshay, Kangna Ranaut is an early riser and goes to retires to bed early, and finishes her assignments and commitments accordingly.
