Celebrity tweets and posts not only have a wide reach but also possess the power to trigger gossip, controversies and even a laugh or two. As Jackky Bhagnani recently made a howler on social media by misspelling Malala Yousafzai's name, we take a look at some loose cannons from Bollywood

Bollywood celebs love to interact with fans and express their feelings on social networking sites. But, sometimes in their enthusiasm and rush to put their thoughts online, they have become the butt of jokes and criticism.

Recently, Jackky Bhagnani (right) set tongues wagging when he made a glaring slip-up on social media while congratulating Malala Yousafzai, the 16-year-old crusader for girls' education from Pakistan, on winning the Nobel Peace Prize.

The actor posted: 'Such good news to hear about masala and the noble peace price. My speech In #youngistaan was inspired by her!!' This innocuous tweet set netizens into a frenzy and Jackky just laughed off his error, blaming it on 'typing errors'. Later, he deleted the post and apologised for the same. Funnier still was English supermodel, Naomi Campbell's howler as she misspelt the youngest Nobel Peace Prize winner's name as "malaria" and attributed it to the autocorrect feature on her smartphone. Goof-ups being a part and parcel of celebs' lives, hitlist recollects some of their oops moments recorded on social media...

Priyanka Chopra

The A-list actress found herself at the receiving end when she blindly copied a tweet by Barbadian singer and selfie queen, Rihanna. She had posted, "RT @rihanna F** I look like ho? I look like yes and ya look like no," without caring to censor a particular vulgar word. This, however, caught the attention of her senior colleague, Amitabh Bachchan, who minced no words in showing his displeasure. He asked Piggy Chops how she could use the four-lettered swear word. Priyanka responded with a barrage of apologies.

The superstar, who is rather active on social media, became the victim of netizens' wrath a couple of years ago when Mary Kom made history by becoming India's first woman boxer to win a medal at the Olympics. Big B had tweeted: "Mary Kom !! wins her boxing bout, insured a Bronze ! What a story ! A Mother of two from Assam, creates moment of pride for India !!" He was criticised for not being aware of Mary Kom's home state. He later apologised saying, "Sorry correction : Mary Kom is from Manipur, not Assam .. apologies !!"

Shahid Kapoor

He became the talk of the town for tweeting something obscenely funny about his film, Mausam's premiere. He meant to write: "Premier in the evening my girlgang deciding what I should wear :) (sic)" but ended up typing 'd' for 'g' at one particular place of the word 'girlgang' (stylists), making it read like a Hindi expletive.

Result? He was flooded with a spate of hilarious tweets from online users. By the time he deleted and rewrote the tweet, it had already become a trending topic.

Priety Zinta

The spunky actress, who had recently gone to watch Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif's Bang Bang, tweeted about having thrown a 25-year-old out of the theatre when he didn't stand up for the national anthem, which played before movie started. The post became a heated topic of discussion among youngsters on social networking sites with the youth in question facing the risk of life imprisonment. Priety, on the other hand, was criticised for being a 'bully' which led her to delete her tweet.
