Bollywood will team up for a dance performance with TV artistes for the first time as four leading
ladies of the small screen match steps with Zayed Khan for the 12th Annual Hero Honda Star Screen
Awards Wednesday.
The star-studded ceremony will take place in Mumbai.
The TV artistes are Shweta Tiwari, who plays Prerna in "Kasauti Zindagi Kay"; Shilpa Saklani, seen
as Ganga in "Kyunkii Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi"; Juhi Parmar who plays the title role in "Kumkum";
and Natasha who plays Anjali in "Kkavyanjali".
"I was shocked when I was told about it. My first reaction was, 'I can't dance with Zayed. He is such a
good dancer and I don't know dance. So don't ask me'. But when they told me that I have to do Indian
steps, I agreed," Shweta told.
"I am excited about the performance. I am dancing on the song 'Dus bahaney', which has a Western
tune and I will do Bharatanatyam on that."
What's more, she hasn't met Zayed yet.
"I haven't met Zayed because our timings don't match. When I am free, he is shooting and vice-versa.
So till now we have practiced separately."
This is her first performance in front of the film fraternity. "I am feeling great because I am going to
perform in front of people I have just heard about so far."
Shilpa, who recently participated in STAR One's "Nach Baliye" contest with her husband Apoorva
Agnihotri, is a little nervous and says: "I have a major stage fright and it takes a lot for me to go and
dance on stage. And I don't know dance. So when they called me I was a little apprehensive but
somehow they convinced me.
"I danced on 'Das bahaney' in 'Nach Baliye'. But there is a difference - there I teamed up with my
husband and here I am going to dance with Zayed. I will do a Spanish dance on the song."
Shilpa is quite impressed with Zayed. "It's a great honour for me to dance with Zayed because he is
an established actor. I met him during the rehearsals. He is a very good human being, down to earth
and hardworking.
"We the girls just have to go for a short while for rehearsals but he is there throughout. He is carrying
the entire responsibility on his shoulders and doing a great job," she adds.
Both Shweta and Shilpa don't have a dance background but say they have worked very hard and
practiced a lot for the show.
Juhi will do the Arabic dance and Natasha will do the Western with Zayed on the same song.
