If latest reports pertaining to "Happy New Year" which released amid a jam packed occupancy are to be believed then the movie has raked in a whooping amount of approx 44.97 crores soon after its release and has shattered all the opening day collections records set by its predecessors.
It's not that the movie has only succeeded in charming the Hindi audience, even its Telugu and Tamil editions have raked in 1.43 Crores and 0.92 crores on day 1 in addition to the earning of Rs 42.62 Crores made by its Hindi edition.
Although the movie received a sound bashing from critics lobby for it's average content, but in spite of that the word of mouth publicity circumscribed around the movie succeed in doing miracles for this much anticipated cine venture of SRK and Farah.
Earlier the record of being biggest day 1 grosser was tagged with Aamir's money spinner "Dhoom 3" which collected Rs 36 crore approx on its opening day and even shattered the record of SRK's "Chennai Express" which minted Rs 33.10 Crore on day one.

Well after witnessing such a bumper opening of "Happy New Year" it will be interesting to see that if movie manages to maintain its earning momentum and ends up being the fastest 100 crore grosser or not.
