As Irrfan finally teams up with buddy Tigmanshu Dhulia after a brief sulking phase, we take a look at some director-actor jodis who mended fences after a fallout

Bollywood has been witness to several enduring friendships that have translated into some memorable moments on the silver screen.

Thick friends, Tigmanshu Dhulia and Irrfan are back together for Bade Bhaisaahb

However, given the competitive, fickle nature of the industry, many partnerships have gone sour. It is no surprise when swear-in pals turn bitter rivals just overnight, refusing to see eye to eye and taking digs at one another at every given opportunity. While tiffs and tussles are more common between actors, quite a few filmmaker-actor pairs have had a fallout.

But, some of them have made efforts to bury the hatchet and start their friendship anew. The latest such pair to have patched up are Tigmanshu Dhulia with his longtime friend, Irrfan.

The duo had supposedly parted ways when the latter opted out of Tishu's Shaagird in 2007 stating that his character had lesser substance and impact. After this alleged 'fallout', Irrfan was believed to have walked in and out of his buddy's films on several occasions.

But Irrfan claimed that their friendship was intact and would never be "commercialised". Now, as they have joined hands for Bade Bhaisaahb, hitlist takes a look at the other jodis who had a fallout only to team up again...

Shah Rukh Khan and Farah Khan

The two went from thick friends to foes in 2012 when SRK apparently slapped the director's husband, Shirish Kunder at Sanjay Dutt's bash. Reports suggested that Shirish was drunk and was chasing Shah Rukh around the party venue. An irritated SRK then pinned him to a sofa and allegedly punched him. Later, the two met at King Khan's place and patched up. In between, however, Farah chose to work with Akshay Kumar in Tees Maar Khan, which was a box office dud.

In one of her recent interviews, Farah said, "Just as I completed the script (of Happy New Year), we ironed out our differences. Soon after he called to say, 'Make a film with me.' I mailed him the script. After a few days, Gauri (Khan) asked me to fly to London to meet him. We met in his new house and finalised the deal."

Kareena Kapoor Khan and Karan Johar

Their friendship turned sour when Kareena opted out of KJo's Shuddhi soon after Hrithik Roshan walked out of the project. But now she is back in the film and will play Salman Khan's love interest. When the filmmaker celebrated his 42nd birthday in May this year, his close friend and favourite heroine, Bebo was missing from the bash. However, later, when the actress held a private dinner party for her besties, Karan Johar was seen joining in the revelry.

Sanjay Dutt and Sanjay Gupta

The two Sanjays had started a production company and the non-payment of some of their employees led to an altercation between them. Dutt and Gupta were said to have patched up at Amitabh Bachchan's 70th birthday bash. Speculation is that as it was a spur-of-the-moment patch up. Dutt in an earlier interviews to hitlist had said, "It was that moment which happened at Amitji's party and we hugged. Jo bhi hai, it has been in the past and we have had too many moments and many years of being together as friends. I know him since he was an assistant and then we did many films together." Recently, Gupta and Dutt, who is currently serving prison time, got in touch with each other through letters and are said to be discussing a film idea together.

Sanjay Dutt, Sanjay Gupta and Vivek Oberoi
This director-actor duo went their separate ways when Vivek turned down Gupta's Shootout at Wadala in 2012 apparently because he felt that the role was as meaty as the one in the prequel, Shootout in Lokhandwala. At that time, Gupta had said, "Vivek Oberoi is a joke which is not even funny anymore but his ridiculous statements make me laugh. I think he is the Prince of Ghaziabad who will get his KLPD (referring to one of Vivek's films)." Later, the two mended fences. Vivek is now part of Gupta's upcoming project, Mumbai Saaga.
