So it's no deal finally. Madhavan has opted out of Sony's newly started game show Deal Ya No Deal.

He's going to be replaced by Mandira Bedi.

Talking about the sudden reversal of his televised enthusiasm Maddy says, "It just wasn't working out. I had to constantly shuffle dates between the show and my films. Initially I thought it would require more time and then I'd just be required to give six days a month. But it wasn't working out that way at all. Every month Sony would change the set-up, tweak the show here and there, and ask me to give twelve-fifteen days. My film schedules were suffering. So I said no. Better to quite than to make my films suffer."

Maddy has already shot the thirty-five episodes that he was obligated to according to his contract with Sony.

"It was a good experience," he says with more relief than regret. "But I don't think I'll be returning to television in a hurry."
