"'3 Idiots' was a great movie. It's a very different story about Indian educational system. Actually, I am professor in a university and I am very much in resonance with the message passed on through this film," Xiaolu told PTI, whose film 'Finding Mr Right' launched the 'China Focus' section at the International Film Festival of India here.
'Finding Mr Right' is the fourth biggest Chinese film in terms of box office collection in 2013.
India and China have several similarities and the recent co-production treaty signed between the two countries can go a long way in cementing the ties, the 34-year-old filmmaker said.
"We have same interests. We have similar cultures because we are Asians. If a movie is good, then I think it will be popular," she said.
"I hope in future Chinese and Indian filmmakers are able to co-produce movies...," she said.
