The popular Sufi singer Satinder Sartaaj is all set to make his movie debut with a Hollywood Film. Apparently, the film is based on the last King of Punjab, Maharaja Duleep Singh, 'The Black Prince'.

The film has been directed by Kavi Raz and produced by Brillstein Entertainment Partners. The bilingual film is a tale about the tragic yet enchanting journey of the last king of Punjab Maharaja Duleep Singh.

What is the motivation behind this quantum leap?
I am always been a keen lover of Heritage and History., Maharajah Duleep Singh is our last king and I feel disheartened that no one till date has take the initiative to narrate his side of the story. Else, he has been projected as mere tragic figure in our Punjab History. Maharaja Duleep Singh was an intelligent, political genius, brave, loveable, charming and emotional man. And getting an opportunity to play the same inspiring character led me into this film.

Why straight away Hollywood? why not Bollywood?
It wasn't about Bollywood or Hollywood or even Pollywood as a matter of fact, I have received numerous offers from Bollywood and Punjabi cinema! But none of them touched my heart. I was never convinced to be a part of any film until now. And when I received the offer for 'The Black Prince' I felt yes! This is it. I said yes to the film without looking at script.

How did the 'The Black Prince' happen?
As I earlier said I was not willing to do any film which I did not connect with. 'The Black Prince' happened in the matter of timing and commitment.


Why did you pick an Epic flick to make a debut? like most of the stars might opt for a commercial movie to make a debut?
Commerce does not hold any such importance in my life it stands at secondary position. My whole carrier is not based on commercial aspects. I do what I like and what is good for the society. I did not wanted to enter Cinema with light and antisocial film.

The Black Prince is the story of the last Sikh Maharaja Duleep Singh, how do you perceive yourself in that character?
I can actually relate to the character, and I did not see much of a difference, as a matter of fact everyone around also felt that, I really gel into this character. And I also feel the same.

Any last word for the fans?
I have received a lot of love from my fans across the world and I believe that they would continue doing the same. Whereas, I hope to fulfill their wish by giving them a worthwhile film.
