After critics, Ajay Devgn's 'Action Jackson' fails to impress the audience too

The past weekend didn't belong to Bollywood, with none of the releases - major or the smaller ones - leaving a memorable patch on the box office figures.

'Action Jackson' earned about Rs 28 crore at the box office in its opening weekend which is a lot less than what his last release 'Singham Returns' managed.

Exhibitor Rajesh Thadani feels the negative word-of-mouth worked against the movie. "Rs 28 crore is very poor considering the film's cost. The reports of the film has been bad so far and we expect to see a major drop in the collection from Monday onwards."

Not so much for Prabhu Dheva, but it will be Ajay Devgn who will get affected by the commercial failure of 'Action Jackson'.

Trade analyst Amod Mehra said, "Ajay Devgn has been doing films like 'Golmaal' or action films and it is high time he reinvented himself. With the film releasing in nearly 4,000 screens, the collection of the film is extremely disappointing. The film's collection was not up to the mark on Friday and dropped drastically on Saturday and even further on Sunday. Looking at this trend it was clear that audience rejected the film."

Some of the other films that released on Friday - 'Bhopal: A Prayer for Rain' and 'Sulemani Keeda' - had dismal collection on the opening weekend.

Vishal Anand of Fun Cinemas added, "Action Jackson was disappointing at the box office for us at Fun Cinemas. In fact, we had high hopes with this film considering this was a massy one and would pull a lot of people but that was not the case."

This depression of a weather in terms of box office returns has been going on for about two months now. There hasn't been a single hit film. "November was sad and now the first week of December has been disastrous. Our hope (as exhibitors) now rests on 'pk'," muses Thadani.
