Veteran actor Dilip Kumar, who was admitted to a hospital here three days back for a chest infection, is recovering well, a doctor attending on him said today.

"Dilip Saab is doing fine now. He will be here only for next 2-3 days. We have kept him on anti-biotics for now. But his laboratory investigations have improved and X-ray has also improved," Dr Jalil Parkar, well-known pulmonologist at Lilavati hospital told PTI.

"Clinically he is doing very well. He is walking and talking to everyone and he seems to be in a jolly mood," Parkar said.

Kumar, 91, who is being treated by a panel of doctors, including cardiologist Dr Nitin Gokhale, nephrologist Dr Kirti Upadhyay and neurologist Dr Vinay Chavan, was admitted to the hospital on Saturday evening, after he complained of cold and breathlessness.

A team of doctors, on conducting his check-up, found that he was suffering from a chest infection called bronchopneumonia.

Earlier, the actor had been hospitalised in September last year after he suffered a silent heart attack.

Kumar, known as the 'King of Tragedy', essayed iconic roles in classics like 'Devdas', 'Madhumati', 'Mughal-e-Azam' and 'Ganga Jamuna'.
