Sandhya Mridul, who is making a comeback on TV after a decade, says she does not consider the length but her role when she opts for a show.

Sandhya, 39, plays a mother in the newly launched detective TV drama 'Private Investigator', where actor Mrinal Dutt plays the titular character.

"I am very secure as an actress. I don't get insecure about the length and the kind of character I am playing on-screen. I just look out for edgy roles and it does not matter to me whether I get to do that in the role of a mother, grandmother, sister or daughter," Mridul told PTI.

Mridul was last seen in reality show 'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa' after ending her double role stint in TV soap 'Hubahu'.

"I think I have played almost every role on-screen. I played a bahu and did a reality show too. I was not getting anything new and did not take up shows just for the heck of it. I don't want to bore my audience with same kind of role," she said.

The 'Page 3' star is happy with the concept of the new Star Plus' show and says that her character has many shades as it proceeds further.

"The best part of 'Private Investigator' is that it's a finite series and the screenplay is intriguing. Even the role which I am playing has lots of shades and people will get to know about my character more in the upcoming episodes," she said.

Mridul's comeback on TV has been applauded by her industry friends and fans on social-networking sites and she finds the gesture very rewarding.

"I am very passionate and emotional about my work on the sets. I have always been fortunate that people liked my roles.

I find it very rewarding when your commitment and passion pay off," she said.

Mridul started her career in showbiz with 1995 hit soap opera 'Swabhimaan' followed by 'Banegi Apni Baat', 'Koshish' and 'Hubahu'.

The actress feels TV is going through an interesting phase now with the 'finite series' as such shows give an actor their creative space.

"This new trend of finite series has given TV a new lease of life. Actors also get bored of playing similar characters for ages. Through such shows, actors get their creative juices back. Audience are also liking such shows," she said.

Apart from TV, Mridul also stars in Bengali film 'The Bridge' opposite veteran actor Soumitra Chatterjee.
