Tax exemption sought for 'PK' in Bengal

A cultural organization here Saturday pressed for making Aamir Khan-starrer "PK" tax-free in West Bengal.

"'PK; has been exempted from tax in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh despite continued protests by right-wing Hindu organisations that claim the movie hurt religious sentiments of Hindus," said the Bhasha o Chetona Samiti, pushing the idea forward at a conference where leading intellectuals of the city participated.

The organization plans to write to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in this regard.

"We will write to the chief minister requesting that the film be made tax-free in Bengal," Emanul Haque, secretary of the Samiti, told IANS.
