The movie, in which Kaushik plays the role of a Sikh gentleman, deals with the subject of retired soldiers who fight to regain an identity of their own.
Along with Kaushik, the movie also boasts of an interesting line up of veteran actors like Kader Khan and Prem Chopra.
The film also features actor Jimmy Shergill and former MTV VJ Shenaz Treasurywala.
Talking about the movie, Kaushik said, "'Umar' is a very sensitive and family oriented movie. It is a story of three old men. The movie portrays that age is no bar to endeavour, and that people can achieve anything even at the age of sixty".
Talking about his other co-stars in the movie Kaushik said, "They are veterans in the field of acting and have already proved it. Prem Chopra and I have been friends for a long time, and we enjoyed the time that we spent together. He has worked in one of my films, 'Badhai ho Badhai' and is not only a good actor but a good writer too. I have already worked with Kader Khan in many David Dhawan movies".
Apart from 'Umar', Kaushik has a busy schedule ahead in 2006.
Kaushik is currently directing 'Shaadi Se Pehle', starring Akshay Khanna, Mallika Sherawat and Ayesha Takia, which is expected to be released in the later half of 2006. He will also be directing Balaji Telefilm's 'Kya Love Story Hai' starring Tusshar Kapoor.
He will also be seen on the big screen in another acting role in the movie 'Milenge Milenge', which stars Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kappur.
