With Akshay Kumar apparently asking Prabhu Dheva to rework the plot of 'Singh Is Bling', we list other projects that had to undergo script changes on the insistence of actors

The debacle of Prabhu Dheva's last offering, 'Action Jackson', came as a shock to not only him but also his star cast. After the film released last December, Dheva was supposed to start shooting for 'Singh Is Bling' with Akshay Kumar this month.

However, the project has been pushed ahead - or, if sources are to be believed, shelved for the time being. Reason? The Khiladi (who is also producing the film) has apparently instructed the filmmaker to rework the script and make it commercially viable.

Rana Daggubati and Bipasha Basu star in Vikram Phadnis upcoming film 'Nia'. It was slated to roll this month in Australia, but has been pushed back as the script is being reworked

Of late, Prabhu Dheva's run at the box office has been lacklustre with his action sequences appearing repetitive. Perhaps, this is the reason Akshay is apparently making him add some novelty to 'Singh Is Bling' that has 'Heropanti' actress Kriti Sanon in the lead. The film was initially slated for a July release but was pushed to October as it would have clashed with the other Akshay-starrer 'Brothers'. But now, a big question mark seems to be hanging on the film's release as the actor is busy with other projects.

The script of Rajkumar Hirani's 'pk' had to be tweaked after the release of 'OMG-Oh My God' in 2012 as the latter dealt with a similar subject

This is not the first time that a star has asked the director and writers to improve the storyline to make it more viable at the box office. hitlist points out similar instances...

Akshaye Khanna wasn't happy with certain aspects of his role in Dev Benegal's 'Bombay Samurai'. The ambitious project starring Kareena Kapoor and Farhan Akhtar is yet to take off

Going down under
Another upcoming project whose script is being reworked is 'Nia' starring Bipasha Basu and her ex-flame Rana Daggubati. The film is the directorial debut of fashion designer Vikram Phadnis. Apparently, the film's title may also undergo changes. When the project was announced in November last year, Phadnis had stated that the film would go on the floors by January-end and be shot over 50 days in Australia. Buzz is that things have now been pushed ahead by a few months until the director streamlines the script and has a title to match.

Kriti Sanon features with Akshay Kumar in Prabhu Dheva's 'Singh Is Bling' whose script is being redone apparently to make it commercially viable

Of things godly
The script of Rajkumar Hirani's 'pk' had to be reworked after 'OMG - Oh My God' released in 2012. The filmmaker, along with writer Abhijat Joshi, had to accommodate quite a few changes in the storyline as it dealt with a similar subject as the Paresh Rawal-Akshay Kumar starrer. The film's protagonist Aamir Khan was also particular about that the script be unique and refashioning the script delayed the shoot of 'pk' by several months. Going by its box office collections - Rs 300-plus crore to be precise - the efforts sure seem to have paid off.

Salman Khan was upset when Govinda turned down the Hindi remake of Mahesh Manjrekar's Marathi film that he was producing. Chi Chi supposedly wanted a few changes in the script as a condition

Missing in action
Akshaye Khanna, who has been missing from the Bollywood scene since long, was slated to make his comeback with Dev Benegal's much-hyped film, 'Bombay Samurai'. Akshaye evinced interest, but wasn't happy with some aspects of his role. He apparently demanded a few changes and the story went back to the board. This long-in-the planning film starring Kareena Kapoor and Farhan Akhtar has been in the news intermittently. When Dev had narrated the script to Farhan, the latter wanted to produce it as well and had apparently asked for the script to be reworked. The film has not rolled till date.

On my terms
Govinda was offered the lead role in the Hindi remake of Mahesh Manjrekar's Shikshanachya 'Aaicha Gho' to be produced by Salman Khan. After the first narration, Chi Chi wanted the makers to make some changes to the script as a condition to be part of the project. When Govinda did turn down the film, Salman took to Twitter to voice his grievance against him. The film is yet to see the light of the day.
