Dismissing rumours that he plans to move from Star to Reliance, Samir Nair says, "Of course I'm restless to move on. But not elsewhere. There's so much to be done at Star. There're so many challenges at Star. I don't have to go looking for them elsewhere."
Among Star's expansion plans this year, count a fierce foray into regional programming as top priority.
Reveals Samir, "We're getting into regional space this year in a big way. We're starting several regional channels this year, probably the first being Bengali. Though we've Vijay TV in the South we aren't going into the South just yet."
So where did these rumours of Samir's move to Reliance start? "Search me! I heard these rumours when I was in Hong Kong , ironically for brainstorming sessions with my colleagues. I'm not going anywhere. Reliance probably wants to create an 'A' team. And one of our ex-colleagues from Star (Tarun Katial of Sony) has joined Reliance. But I'm surprised by talk about me."
Further expanding on Star's plans this year Sammir says, "We're looking at new technology, like broadband, mobile, internet, DTS. I'm looking at these as a broadcaster and content creator. We want to see where Star is placed."
