Known as India's ace model maker, she is currently busy conducting her "Britannia Gladrags Mega Model and Manhunt Contest - 2006".
"I believe we don't have enough money in modelling in India and there are not many models who are successful. Therefore, youngsters should first secure a job before getting into modelling. It is advisable only if taken as a hobby," Wadia said at an interaction with the media here Sunday evening during the north zone selection of the Gladrags contest.
"Today's generation is one growing up with lack of motivation and sincerity. Youngsters want to get everything without doing their bit. They want to be models and want to be famous instantly," she said.
Wadia will launch her grooming and career management institute in Mumbai March 15, which will train young talents for the services sector, including airlines, hotels, banks and call centres.
"Over the years, we have developed a database of over 20,000 aspiring models. They can become a huge force in the services sector. We will train these youngsters in our institute and prepare them for different kinds of jobs according to their interest and ability," said Wadia, the wife of business tycoon Nusli Wadia.
After Mumbai, Maureen Wadia plans to open similar career management centres in several other cities. These centres would not aim at creating models but on developing their personalities and sharpening their skills to cope with the demands in various professional fields.
The preliminary round of this year's Gladrags Mega Model and Manhunt Contest is being held in four cities - Kolkata, New Delhi, Bangalore and Mumbai. The finals of the competition will be held in Mumbai April 8.
Those selected for the finals will need to go through rigorous grooming and training before they finally take to the ramp in the finals.
"The grooming and training will include physical training, make-up course, dancing, career knowledge, nutrition, etiquette and sex education," said Wadia, who is also said to have found successful models like Lisa Ray, Lara Dutta and Dino Morea.
The male and female winners picked by the Gladrags contest have the opportunity to take part in fashion shows in India and abroad. They are also helped in bagging contracts with different fashion houses.
