Following in his father's footsteps, Abhishek forayed into the world of Hindi cinema with "Refugee" in 2000 opposite actress Kareena Kapoor.
The father-son pair has also entertained Bollywood-cinema lovers with movies like "Bunty Aur Babli", "Paa" and "Sarkar". The 72-year-old also took to micro-blogging site Twitter to thank Abhishek's well-wishers.
"To those that send multiple greetings for Abhishek on his birthday... thank you so much...may your blessings remain with him always," he tweeted.
After delivering notable performances in films like "Dhoom", "Bol Bachchan", "Guru" and "Happy New Year", Abhishek is also supporting sports like kabaddi and football.
The tall, dark and handsome star of the Bachchan family is now married to actress Aishwarya Rai and together they have a three-year-old daughter Aaradhya.
