Police has recorded the statements of film makers David Dhavan and Inder Kumar who had in the past received extortion threats from extradited gangster Abu Salem, Crime Branch sources said today.

The statements were recorded few days ago, the sources said.

Both Bollywood personalities today visited the crime branch office in police commissionerate here but it was not known what transpired in the meeting between them and police officers, the sources said.

Police is planning to make them witnesses in the extortion case against Salem but the duo have not yet expressed their willingness to come forward to give evidence, the sources said.

During investigations in the Ajit Dewani murder case, police learnt that Salem had threatened many film personalities and wanted to rule Bollywood by issuing extortion threats.

Dewani, secretary to actor Manisha Koirala, was murdered allegedly by Salem's men in 2001 after he refused to pay the extortion money, police said.

Ajit Dewani murder case is one of the two cases probed by crime branch on the basis of which Salem was extradited from Portugal. He is now facing the trial in a special MCOCA court here.
