During investigations in the Ajit Dewani murder case, police learnt that Salem had threatened many film personalities and wanted to rule Bollywood by issuing extortion threats.
Dewani, secretary to actor Manisha Koirala, was murdered allegedly by Salem's men in 2001 after he refused to pay the extortion money, police said.
Ajit Dewani murder case is one of the two cases probed by crime branch on the basis of which Salem was extradited from Portugal. He is now facing the trial in a special MCOCA court here.
