After a "self-imposed" break from the world of cinema, talented actress Nandita Das will soon be seen
in a new film based on a story by Jnanpith award-winning writer Mahashweta Devi.
"It's a Marathi film being directed by Chitra Palekar (actor-director Amol Palekar's wife). The film is
adapted from a story by Mahashweta Devi. Atul Kulkarni is my co-star in this film that should be
released by this year," says the internationally-acclaimed actress.
She is also doing an "untitled" English film with Rahul Bose which will be directed by
cinematographer-turned-director Santosh Sivan.
"I wasn't doing any films for some time as nothing really excited me. But that period is over now. I do
have a couple of good projects on hand," says the choosy actress who represented India in Cannes
Film Festival last year, sharing the honours with Aishwarya Rai and Mallika Sherawat.
Talking about her experience of working with Santosh Shivan, she says "it was a pleasure to work
with him".
Nandita, known for her critically-loved performances in 'Fire', '1947-Earth', 'Bawander' and who has
many regional films to her credit, says some Hindi films are also "under consideration".
"We are discussing a couple of Hindi projects also. But it is all in the processing stage. It's too early
to talk about them. And anyway, I don't choose a film based on the language. It is the subject that
matters," she avers.
