As the Brit Awards was telecast in India recently, netizens went into a tizzy over Madonna's tumble off the stage. We list a few Bollywood celebs who suffered an embarrassing fall in public

Most of us have had that awkward moment when we tripped over something and landed on the ground. Sure we can pass it off by laughing, but what if the same was to happen in front of a crowd that has its gaze fixed on you?

Pop queen Madonna had an embarrassing tumble down a flight of stairs while performing at the Brit Awards and when that image beamed onto Indian televisions last week, netizens have gone into a frenzy, talking about the pop queen's ouch moment more than the awards itself. hitlist takes a look at some Bollywood celebrities who have had some cringe-worthy falls in full public view.

Sonakshi Sinha

People gasped in shock as Sona tumbled down a step at a fashion show some time ago. She got up and continued walking with a smile on her face. In a separate incident while walking the ramp with her 'Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Dobaara' (2013) co-star Akshay Kumar, the ends of her rather long and heavy kurta kept coming in the way. Her chivalrous co-star played the role of 'knight in shining armour' by not only making the situation slightly funny, but also pretending to trip on the ramp himself.

Poonam Dhillon

Wearing a sari can be dicey, more so when you have to walk under the spotlight. Dhillon had a rather embarrassing moment when her sari got stuck in her heels making her fall face-ward while walking the ramp in May last year. Despite losing her balance and falling none so subtly, the veteran actress regained her poise and completed her walk.

Kangna Ranaut

The actress, who is often touted as a style diva, may have walked the ramp in her 2008 movie 'Fashion' with elan, but she struggled her way down the ramp in real life in a floor sweeping dress. Such was her discomfort, that she stopped in the middle of the runway to manage her gown.

Sridevi

As the showstopper for Neeta Lulla's fashion show in 2010, the veteran actress tripped about three times while sashaying down the runway. Every time she'd re-compose herself and inch forward, the dress would gather under her feet again making it almost impossible for her to walk at ease. Though she managed to complete her show-stopping act without a full-blown fall, the signs of nervousness were quite evident.

Sushmita Sen

Trust this Bong beauty to handle any public appearance with elegance. During a jewellery week in 2012, when the ends of her gown got stuck in her heels, almost making her trip, the former Miss Universe took but a few seconds to beckon her mother on stage, ask her for help with her dress, hug her and continue walking as if nothing happened.

Varun Dhawan

During the first of his three acts at an awards function last year, Varun made a striking entry sitting atop a tank, but while he was getting down, he took a tumble and fell, apparently also injuring his foot. The actor didn't take more than a few seconds before immediately getting up and dancing to a track from his last release.
