Shruti Haasan will be seen playing a Maharashtrian character for the first time opposite Akshay Kumar in 'Gabbar Is Back'. In the look unveiled by the makers of the film, Shruti is seen in a traditional avatar wearing a pink nauvari saree and a nathani (nose ring).

It is interesting to note that Shruti's mother, Sarika, is half Maharashtrian. And in the film, Shruti surely looks like a Maharashtrian mulgi to the core!

'Gabbar Is Back' is a remake of 2002 Tamil film 'Ramanaa'. The anti-corruption drama has been directed by Krish and produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Viacom 18 Motion Pictures and co-produced by Shabinaa Khan.

Chitrangda Singh, who has been missing from the big screen for a while now, will be seen in a sizzling item number 'Aao Raja' in the film.

The film is slated to release on May 1.
