The decision was finalized late Sunday night, prompting the official cancellation and rescheduling of the film's planned press conference and media preview in Mumbai:
"Film Ohh My Dog has shifted its release date to 7th of August. The press show today stands cancelled and will be rescheduled for a later date. We profusely apologise for the inconvenience and hope to see you for the press screening next week."
Director Amit Rai on "Not Repeating the OMG 2 Mistake"
Speaking on the rationale behind the shift, director Amit Rai (OMG 2) cited the immense screen dominance expected for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man and explained why stepping aside was a necessary commercial call:
Screen Availability: "We made a practical decision because the screens will get occupied with Spider-Man. Already Odyssey has taken over the theatres, and Dhamaal 4 is also screening in two shows... There won't even be a chance of increasing the number of screens."
Learning From 'OMG 2': Rai recalled the 2023 box-office clash where his film OMG 2 released opposite Sunny Deol’s behemoth Gadar 2. Noting that while OMG 2 earned ₹188 crore, it lost significant potential revenue to Gadar 2, Rai stated: "I don't want to repeat history. I will not make the same mistake again."
Pankaj Tripathi's Support: Speaking on his role, Pankaj Tripathi emphasized that the film is driven by conviction rather than commercial box-office figures: "The real stars of this film are the storytellers, the child actor, and the canines... This film has not been made to earn ₹200 crore; it should recover its investment and reach people's hearts."

Written and directed by Amit Rai, Ohh My Dog centers around the pure bond between a young boy (played by Maahi Rai) and a stray dog, set against the backdrop of an investigation into a canine trafficking racket.
Alongside Pankaj Tripathi, Maahi Rai, Pavan Malhotra, and Rajesh Kumar, the film features real canine actors Oscar and Bruno along with over 250 dogs.
