Director Abhishek Pathak Rules Out 'Drishyam 4': Declares 'Drishyam 3: The Conclusion' the Definitive Finale!
Despite Drishyam 3: The Conclusion crossing the massive ₹500 Crore milestone at the worldwide box office in under two weeks, director and producer Abhishek Pathak has shut down speculation regarding a fourth installment.

Speaking in an exclusive interaction with SCREEN, Pathak stated that the creative team considers the threequel the final, definitive chapter of Vijay Salgaonkar’s saga. Emphasizing that commercial success should not dictate prolonging a tightly constructed suspense narrative, Pathak called the ending of the third film a "poetic closure" and a love letter to the franchise that must not be diluted.

"It's a Love Letter to the Franchise": Why There Won't Be a Part 4

Addressing the growing demand from theatergoers and trade analysts who have argued that the premise could be expanded further, Pathak was unequivocal about preserving narrative integrity:

“All of us believe this is the last part of the film. Obviously, the audience is loving it, and talking about it. But Drishyam isn't the franchise where we can just decide to make another film. It's very much dependent on the story, and the story has ended. I always thought the ending was very poetic. It's a love letter to the franchise.”

Pathak added: “The closure is beautifully done. That's what people liked about it. A lot of people are telling me there can be a part 4. If you get to it, there can be an enormous amount of story to it, but that's not the point. We had to stop it at some point, and this was a beautiful ending to the franchise. Drishyam 3 is only in its second week right now. People are still coming to theatres in huge numbers. The second weekend was more than ₹60 crore. That's a figure too many films don't achieve even in their lifetime. So, let's not spoil it for them.”

Mohanlal's Stamp of Approval

The definitive nature of the climax also received an endorsement from Malayalam screen legend Mohanlal, who anchored Jeethu Joseph’s original films that laid the groundwork for the pan-Indian phenomenon:

“I watched Drishyam: The Conclusion, and I am truly impressed with the way they have brought this much-loved journey to a befitting end. Congratulations to Abhishek Pathak, Kumar Mangat Pathak, Ajay Devgn, and the entire cast and crew on a job so well done.”

The Hindi finale brought back Ajay Devgn alongside Tabu, Shriya Saran, Ishita Dutta, and Kamlesh Sawant (Inspector Gaitonde), while introducing Jaideep Ahlawat as the relentless Crime Branch investigator reopening the long-buried case.

Trade Take:

In an industry where successful intellectual property is routinely diluted through forced, diminishing-return sequels, Abhishek Pathak and Ajay Devgn’s decision to call time on Drishyam at the ₹500 Crore peak represents a rare creative discipline. Ending the cat-and-mouse game on a self-contained, definitive climax cements Vijay Salgaonkar's story as one of Indian cinema’s cleanest and most commercially complete trilogies.
