Imran Khan Romances Bhumi Pednekar in Full-Fledged Comeback Feature 'Adhure Hum Adhure Tum': Eyes December 18 Direct-to-Digital Premiere!
Marking his first leading role in over a decade, Imran Khan is officially returning to the romantic-comedy arena opposite Bhumi Pednekar in Adhure Hum Adhure Tum.

Directed by Danish Aslam—who previously directed Khan in the 2010 rom-com Break Ke Baad—the project has entered the final stretch of post-production and is targeting a direct-to-digital release on Netflix on December 18, 2026. The feature pairs Khan with Pednekar for the first time, alongside actor Gurfateh Pirzada in a key supporting role.

Following a brief, uncredited screen cameo earlier this year in Aamir Khan Productions' Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos, Khan confirmed that the team is wrapping the edit and sound mix to hit the year-end holiday window:

“We have been told they intend to release it on December 18, so we are rushing to finish post-production and deliver it on time. Since it's OTT, not theatrical, I don't think the date makes any difference. I'm just glad that we can finally share this film with everyone.”

Describing the tone and thematic identity of the film, Khan noted that he was conscious of stepping away from the college-boy tropes that defined his breakout in Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na (2008):

“It is a grown-up romantic comedy… age-appropriate to where I am now.”

For Bhumi Pednekar, teaming up with Imran Khan represents a full-circle collaboration. Speaking about the script and her co-star, Pednekar reflected on his enduring legacy as Hindi cinema's quintessential sensitive romantic lead:

The Nostalgia Factor: “I had the biggest crush on him growing up. He was the greenest flag in all his rom-com films. Nobody really makes rom-coms like that anymore. I read the script and loved it—it's elevated, mature, and just such a good time.”

Subverting Genre Tropes: Pednekar emphasized that the film avoids simplistic "boy-meets-girl" storylines, choosing instead to explore the complexities, compromises, and emotional baggage of modern urban relationships in one's thirties and beyond.

At a time when streaming platforms often favor high-octane crime dramas and revenge thrillers, Adhure Hum Adhure Tum aims to revive the classic, urban relationship comedy. Re-pairing Imran Khan with director Danish Aslam alongside the versatility of Bhumi Pednekar taps into millennial nostalgia while offering an age-appropriate evolution of the romantic genre for digital audiences.
