"Khiladi" Turns Villain! Akshay Kumar Officially Joins 'Golmaal 5' as the Lead Antagonist!
The "Golmaal" family just got bigger-and a whole lot deadlier. In a massive casting coup that has taken the industry by storm, it has been confirmed that Akshay Kumar has joined the cast of Rohit Shetty’s 'Golmaal 5'. But he isn't joining the gang to crack jokes. According to an exclusive report by Variety India released this morning (Tuesday, Feb 3), Akshay has been roped in to play the main antagonist against Ajay Devgn and his team.

Here is everything you need to know about this blockbuster addition.

The Role: "Darker & Crazier" 😈

The Villain: Akshay will play a "formidable" baddie, marking a rare negative turn for the superstar (reminiscent of his roles in Ajnabee and 2.0).

The Twist: While the film is a comedy, reports suggest the character will have a "fantasy" element, steering the franchise away from its usual prank-based humor into a more surreal zone.

The Clash: This sets up an epic face-off between Ajay Devgn (Gopal) and Akshay, who last battled it out in Khakee (2004) before teaming up for the Cop Universe.

Kareena Kapoor Khan Returns? 💄

The good news doesn't stop with Akshay.

The rumor: Strong reports from Bollywood Hungama indicate that Kareena Kapoor Khan is also confirmed to return to the franchise after 16 years (since Golmaal 3).

The Gang: The OG squad—Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, and Kunal Kemmu—are all locked to return.

Production Updates 🎬 Shooting: The film is scheduled to go on floors by the end of February 2026 at Film City, Mumbai.

Release Date: The makers are eyeing an Early 2027 theatrical release to mark the 20th anniversary of the franchise.

SantaBanta Verdict: Rohit Shetty has pulled off the impossible. Akshay Kumar as the villain in a comedy franchise? Take our money already! The thought of seeing the "Crazies" (Gopal, Madhav, Lucky) trying to fight the "Khiladi" is pure box office gold.
