For over a decade, athleisure has been Namrata’s daily uniform. From studio sessions and long workdays to travel and meetings, she consistently reached for clothing that felt comfortable and easy to move in. Over time, she realised that while athleisure had become an everyday essential, it rarely reflected individuality or personal style. That quiet gap became the starting point for KYN, a label designed to feel expressive, effortless, and easy to live in beyond workouts.

“We started KYN to enjoy colours and create something that felt fun, personal, and exclusive,” says Namrata. “I wanted to wear fabrics that felt like second skin so I could be in it all day. That’s what we’ve tried to do with KYN.”

The idea for KYN took shape during the launch of Namrata’s studio in Kanpur, where she met Kanushee Garg for the first time. What began as a casual conversation quickly revealed a shared sensibility for colour, creativity, movement, and individuality. The very next day, the two met again and decided to build a brand together, one that reflected everything they genuinely loved and believed in.

Over the following six months, KYN evolved through a hands-on and deeply collaborative process. From silhouettes and fits to fabrics and colour palettes, every detail was thoughtfully developed by the founders. Designed for modern lifestyles and long days on the move, the collection blends comfort with confidence, offering flattering silhouettes, relaxed fits, and versatile separates that transition seamlessly from workouts to everyday life.

KYN was created for people who wear athleisure as a lifestyle rather than just for workouts. Colour plays a defining role in the collection, bringing a sense of playfulness and individuality to everyday activewear while remaining versatile and easy to style. Each piece is designed to move naturally with the body, feeling intuitive and polished without appearing overly technical.

Speaking about the philosophy behind the brand, Namrata adds, “We consciously chose to create limited pieces in every style because I’ve always believed fashion should feel personal. There’s something special about wearing something unique, something that not everyone else has. Comfort was non-negotiable for us. We wanted every piece to move with you effortlessly through the day while still making you feel confident and individual.”

The emphasis on thoughtful design and quality is echoed by co-founder Kanushee Garg. “KYN is a reflection of conscious craftsmanship and thoughtful design. Every fabric is personally curated with a strong focus on quality, comfort, and detail, and each piece is proudly manufactured in India,” she says.

The name KYN is inspired by the word “kin,” symbolising connection, belonging, and community. It also stands for Kanushee y Namrata, with “y” meaning “and” in Spanish, reflecting two perspectives coming together to create something meaningful.

Summing up the brand’s vision, Namrata shares, “We wanted to create a brand that feels global in its aesthetic while staying deeply rooted in Indian craftsmanship and production.”
