Horror wins over the box office this weekend as Resident Evil records 61% jump in India.

Resident Evil fever continues to grip India! Released in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, the film delivered an impressive second-day performance at the box office, recording a 61% jump at the box office on Saturday, further cementing the strong audience response to Zach Cregger’s adrenaline-fuelled horror experience.

Starring Austin Abrams in the lead, Resident Evil collected Rs 4.10 Cr gross on Saturday, pushing the total collection so far to Rs 7.12 Cr gross in India.

On the global front, Variety reported that Resident Evil earned $26.3 million in the US. As per reports, the film is expected to earn close to $60 million, making it the largest debut in Resident Evil franchise history. The phenomenal opening would also be Zach Cregger’s career-best opening. Cregger previously directed the acclaimed horror films Weapons and Barbarian.

From Columbia Pictures and Constantin Film, in association with TriStar Pictures, Resident Evil released in cinemas on 18 September 2026. Distributed by Sony Pictures Entertainment India, the film is playing across English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
