"Tu Yaa Main" Sinks in Opening Weekend: Fails to Cross Rs 3 Crore Mark!

"Tu Yaa Main" Sinks in Opening Weekend: Fails to Cross Rs 3 Crore Mark!
The verdict is in, and it is unfortunately a washout for Shanaya Kapoor and Adarsh Gourav’s survival thriller 'Tu Yaa Main'.

While its competitor O Romeo soared with a ₹30 Crore weekend, Tu Yaa Main struggled to stay afloat, failing to cross even the ₹3 Crore mark in its first three days.

Despite a small spike on Valentine's Day, the film crashed on Sunday due to the massive India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup match, which wiped out its target youth audience.

Here is the dismal breakdown of the opening weekend collections.

Weekend Breakdown (India Net) 📉

Day 1 (Friday, Feb 13): ₹0.60 Crore
Day 2 (Saturday, Feb 14): ₹1.45 Crore (Valentine's Day Boost)
Day 3 (Sunday, Feb 15): ₹0.75 Crore (Impacted by Cricket Match)
Total Weekend Collection: ₹2.80 Crore

Why Did It Fail?

The Cricket Clash: Sunday is usually the biggest day for box office, but the India vs Pakistan match kept the film's core audience (Gen-Z) glued to their TV screens, causing collections to drop by nearly 50% from Saturday.

O Romeo Dominance: Shahid Kapoor's film ate up the majority of the screens and the audience's attention, leaving Tu Yaa Main with very low occupancy (approx. 13-15%).

Niche Appeal: The "influencers trapped with a crocodile" plot, while unique, failed to connect with the mass market.

SantaBanta Verdict:

With a weekend total of just ₹2.80 Crore, the film is facing a near-impossible task to recover its costs. Unless a miracle happens on Monday, this will likely wrap up its theatrical run with a lifetime collection under ₹5 Crore.
