A single PIN can wipe out someone's savings, and one phone call can turn an ordinary day into a nightmare. Cyber scams are no longer distant stories that we hear about; they are affecting people around us, often without warning. For actress Vidya Malavade, who plays Priya Sharma in Story TV’s Scam 2024 – The Digital Arrest Story, the issue hits close to home. While speaking about the series, she reflected on a real-life incident involving her house help, who lost all the money in her bank account to a scam.

Sharing her experience, Vidya revealed, “One of the reasons I did Scam 2024 is because this happened in my home. My long-time house help of 15 years had her entire bank account wiped out because of one PIN. She went to the ATM and came back saying, ‘Didi, what has happened? I wanted to withdraw money, but it’s not working.’ I checked her passbook, and there was nothing left. This happened about a year or a year and a half ago. So I think whether you are educated or uneducated, it doesn't make any difference. They go after everyone.”

Through Scam 2024 – The Digital Arrest Story, Vidya hopes to bring attention to a problem that can affect anyone, regardless of their education or background. The series follows Priya Sharma, whose life changes after she falls victim to a digital arrest scam. Her experience reflects the fear and helplessness people face when scammers use threats and fake identities to gain control. Vidya's own experience makes the story even more relatable, reminding viewers that awareness and caution are important when dealing with suspicious calls, links or requests for personal banking details.
