1. The Newcomers: A Quiet Debut
The two big releases of the week—Bhansali’s urban romance and Anubhav Sinha’s gritty drama—opened to positive reviews but struggled to convert critical acclaim into massive footfalls.
Movie Day 1 (Fri) Day 2 (Sat) Day 3 (Sun) Weekend Total (Nett) Do Deewane Seher Mein ₹1.25 Cr ₹1.45 Cr ₹1.35 Cr ₹4.05 Crore Assi ₹1.00 Cr ₹1.60 Cr ₹1.47 Cr ₹4.07 Crore
Do Deewane Seher Mein: Despite the "Bhansali Production" tag, the Siddhant Chaturvedi-Mrunal Thakur starrer saw a slight dip on Sunday. Its urban appeal led to a decent 15% occupancy in night shows, but it failed to show the explosive growth needed for a breakout.
Assi: Taapsee Pannu's courtroom drama performed steadily. While its numbers are lower than her previous hit Thappad, it is benefiting from strong word-of-mouth. However, the heavy subject matter remains a hurdle for general mass audiences.
2. The Undisputed King: 'O Romeo'
Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri are officially 2026’s first major success story. Now in its second weekend, the Vishal Bhardwaj directorial is showing remarkable resilience.
Weekend 2 Numbers: The film collected ₹8.80 crore over its second weekend (Fri: ₹2.15 Cr, Sat: ₹3.4 Cr, Sun: ₹3.25 Cr).
Total Collection: The India nett total now stands at ₹55.90 crore, while its global gross has sailed past the ₹83 crore mark.
The "Hrithik" Boost: The film received a massive endorsement from Hrithik Roshan, who praised Shahid’s "quirky" performance, helping the film sustain a 13.15% occupancy even on its 10th day.
3. The All-Time Giant: Border 2
Though it released in January, Sunny Deol’s Border 2 is still the elephant in the room. It has currently amassed a staggering ₹354.17 crore in India, setting a high bar that no film in February has managed to challenge.
The Verdict: "Wait and Watch"
With the mega-clash of Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2 and Yash’s Toxic scheduled for March 19, the next two weeks provide a "clean run" for these smaller films.
Prediction: Assi and DDSM will need a very strong Monday hold (at least ₹80 lakh each) to survive the weekday grind.
