British top model Kate Moss has won a substantial undisclosed sum in libel damages over newspaper claims that she collapsed in a cocaine coma during a visit to
Barcelona in 2001, her solicitors said Wednesday.
The 31-year-old was not at London's High Court for the settlement of her action over a number of "serious and defamatory allegations" printed in the Sunday Mirror
newspaper in January.
Her solicitor said the article, which was also published online, alleged that, in Barcelona in June 2001, she collapsed into a drug-induced coma and had to be revived after
taking vast quantities of cocaine.
"These allegations are untrue," he said.
The newspaper's solicitor, Philip Conway, acknowledged that the allegations made against the model were wrong and apologised for the distress and embarrassment
caused.
