The Amazon Forests have been on fire for the past three weeks. Chances are it is going to last for a while, with the local government not taking effective measures to eradicate the fire. Fortunately, the rest of the world isn't oblivious to the problem and is coming together in a united humanitarian effort.
One such name is the 'Titanic' star Leonardo DeCaprio. Apart from being an exceptional actor, he has also been an avid environmentalist. To combat such a gigantic environmental catastrophe he has launched an 'Amazon Forest Fund'. Expanding more on his Instagram post, he said that the fund is being established to protect the indigenous communities of the Amazon forests, those who are on the front lines. Also, he has provided an online address for people wanting to make a sizeable contribution.
His company, Earth Alliance has also pledged an amount of $5Million to this cause after the rising surge of forest fires in the Amazon. DeCaprio has always been a relentless advocate for climate change. In 2016, he produced and starred in the documentary 'Before the Flood' where he interviewed various scholars and scientists regarding the worrying climate changes and potential solutions.
