Yorgos Lanthimos' Next Project is a Crime Drama

The beautifully weird Yorgos Lanthimos, the man behind 'The Lobster' (2015), The Killing of a Sacred Deer' (2017), and the last year's Oscar-nominated 'The Favorite' already has another project in his sight.

The Greek auteur will be working on a 'twisted crime drama' seething with political manipulations. He will be adapting the Jim Thompson novel 'Pop. 1280' for the entertainment company 'Element Company' in their fourth collaboration together.

Said to be a personal favorite, Pop. 1280 is about Nick Correy, a listless police sheriff who is secretly a psychopath and holds a the vicious ability to bring out the worst in people. Correy is a a character with a slimy sense of humor and insatiable hunger of power, something right in the Yorgos Lanthimos wheelhouse.

Currently, he premiered his short film ' Nimic' starring Matt Dillion (The House That Jack Built) at the Locarno Film Festival which ran from 7 to 17th August. This 12-minute short is about an encounter a professional cellist has on the subway and how its aftermath affects his life.
