    But India's slut walk is an offshoot of a movement that has turned into a rage worldwide. Toronto It was a policeman in Toronto who said during a speech to university students that women should avoid 'dressing like sluts' in order not to be victimised.

    Outraged, the women decided to show through street parades that dressing provocatively is no reason for them to be at the receiving end of sexual violence.

    That statement sparked off the movement. Similar parades were then held in different parts of the world like Rio de Janeiro and London.

    The movement Slut Walk is trying to convey that no matter what a woman wears, it does not mean she wants to be leered at, molested or raped.
