Leila Lopes from Angola was crowned Miss Universe 2011 at a gala ceremony in Brazil, early today.
Lopes, 25, is a Business Management student currently studying in Great Britain and is the first-ever representative of her country to bag the Miss Universe crown.
Miss Ukraine, Olesya Stefanko was the first runner-up while Miss Brazil, Priscila Machado was the second runner-up.
The 60th edition of one of the most prestigious beauty pageants in the world saw a record 89 beauties from as many countries across the world compete for the crown.
India's Vasuki Sunkavalli failed to make it to the final 16. Earlier, the 27-year-old was disappointed as she could not pose in her national costume because it was not delivered on time.
