First Film, First Mega Hit
He made his debut in Saat Hindustani in 1969. But it took 3 years and more than 15 films for this powerhouse of talent to get his first super hit with Zanjeer in 1972.
And after this, there was no looking back, Bollywood had found its Angry Young Man. -

Amitabh Bachchan has won 4 National Awards for these performances:

Filmfare Awards
Apart from other film awards Mr.Bachchan has won almost a dozen Filmfare awards for his superb acting in various films including Don, Amar Akbar Anthony, Namak Haraam, Hum and Anand.

The Revival
After a downfall of career and huge financial losses for a few years, Amitabh proved his mettle yet again, but this time on the small screen.
Big B hosted the Indian version of 'Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?' entitled, Kaun Banega Crorepati in 2000 and it was a runaway success. His connection with aam janta was revived like never before.
The stage was now set for the Return of the mega star to the big screen once again. He even went on to host the second, fourth and the current season of KBC. -
Roots
Amitabh was born in Alahabad. His father, Dr. Harivansh Rai Bachchan was a well-known Hindi poet, while his mother, Teji Bachchan was a Sikh-Punjabi from Faisalabad .
He was originally christened Inquilaab. But later, Harivansh Rai changed the name to Amitabh which means, 'the light that would never go off.' -
Branches
He married a very successful actress Jaya Bhaduri. They have two children, Shweta Nanda and Abhishek Bachchan.
While his daughter is married to a businessman in New Delhi and did not venture into films. Abhishek became an actor and is married to actress and Ex Miss World Aishwarya Rai.
Amitabh is soon going to be a Grand Paa as Abhishek and Aishwarya are expecting their first child in Novemeber this year. -
Yet To Come
His 40 years in the industry hasn't slowed down this man a wee bit, as he is busy shooting for Ram Gopal Varma's Department, despite getting injured on the sets of the film.
We'll also get to see him in these upcoming movies Struggler, Power, Buddha, Taalismaan , Housefull 2, Aankhen 2, Zamaanat and The Great Gatsby.
