    2004 - Veer Zara / Aitraaz

SRK & Preity's eternal love saga Veer Zaara took on Akshay and Priyanka's thriller Aitraaz. While Veer Zaara got a bumper opening at the Box Office, Aitraaz did surprisingly well too, giving Priyanka's career, a much needed push.

Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor's romantic drama Kyon Ki failed to impress the viewers, despite having the top notch stars in it.

    2006 – Don / Jaan-E-Mann

It was the clash of the titans at the BO this year, when SRK's Don (remake of the original Don starring Amitabh Bachchan) was pitted against Salman Khan's Jaan-E-Mann (also starring Akshay Kumar and Preity Zinta).

People opted for King Khan's action thriller, which became the biggest hit of 2006, over Sallu's triangular love story which left the audience perplexed.

  • 2007 – Om Shanti Om / Saawariya

    2007 – Om Shanti Om / Saawariya

This was the biggest Diwali clash ever. Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Saawariya, which was also the debut platform of two major star kids – Ranbir and Sonam, was touted against Farah Khan's SRK starrer Om Shanti Om, which also launched Deepika.

OSO was a typical masala Bollywood entertainer and was lapped up by the audiences with both hands, leaving the slow and dark love story of Saawariya far behind in the race.

  • 2008 – Fashion / Golmaal Returns

    2008 – Fashion / Golmaal Returns

Mudhar Bhandarkar gave a superb insight into the glamorous, yet murky, world of Fashion to the aam janta, with Priyanka as the protagonist, and people simply loved to see this unseen world.

On the other hand Rohit Shetty's light comedy Golmaal Returns with Ajay Devgan and Kareena tickled the funny bone of people making both the movies rock at the BO.

2009 - All The Best / Main Aur Mrs. Khanna/ Blue

Three big Diwali releases, two of which were a dud. Salman and Kareena's love story Main Aur Mrs. Khanna and the multi-crore under-water adventure of Akshay Kumar in Blue failed to charm the audiences.

While Sanjay Dutt starrer slapstick comedy All The Best made up for the Diwali festivities that people enjoyed thoroughly.

    2010 – Action Replayy / Guzaarish / Golmaal 3

Sanjay Bhansali's critically acclaimed Guzaarish based on Euthanasia, failed at the BO despite stupendous performances by Aishwarya Rai and Hrithik Roshan.

Another Ash starrer Action Replayy, opposite Akshay Kumar, which was supposed to reprise the Retro era of Bollywood could not impress the audiences.

But the Diwali was not disappointing, as Rohit Shetty's comedy series Golmaal 3 starring Kareena and Ajay Devgn turned out to be a huge blockbuster.
