Bollywood's Unfulfilled Olympic Medal Hopes
So finally the London Olympics concluded with some sweet-sour experiences for Indians. At London Olympics, on one hand some of the lesser known names succeeded in fetching the medal, whereas on the other hand their popular counter parts disappointed the masses.
So while thinking about this mega event of sports in Bollywood style, let's have a look at some of the Bollywood celebs who could have pushed-up the medal tally, if they had been sent to London.
-
Rajinikanth - Archery
Starting with the star of the masses, if Rajini had been sent to London then this maestro would have given a tough time to Im Dong Hyun of Korea, who somehow managed to pocket the gold in the absence of Rajni, who could have secured a score of 700+ points by shooting a single arrow from his bow.
-
Farhan Akhtar and Irrfan Khan - Athletics
Inspite of sweating hard on the track, Farhan could not manage to secure a berth for London, where he would have earned at least a silver in 400 mts track event.
Ahh... after all he is the apprentice of flying Sikh Milkha, whose role he will be playing in his upcoming flick Bhaag Milkha Bhaag.
Well it's not that it's only Farhan who received a step motherly treatment from IOA. Even our very own Paan Singh Tomar (Irrfan Khan) was never sent to London by IOA.
On being asked about the reason, it was revealed that officials were sent to Chambal to locate Irrfan but he refused to go for steeple chase at Olympics, because of his new found fascination for shooting.
-
Saif and Sunny - Boxing
It looks like in our country their are very few individuals who have an assay of true talent.
And just because of this widely prevailing notion, we lost two of the medals in boxing too, where 'Chotte Nawab' Saif would have easily knocked out his opponent in the very first round by pitching his patent nose-cracking punch (remember Wasabi) in light weight category.
And as far as heavy weight category is concerned, then Sunny Paaji's famous 'Dhaai Kilo ka Haath' would have done the magic for the Indian contingent.
-
Aamir, Salman and SRK - Cycling
The sport in which India had the brightest chance of winning all the medals is Cycling; because it's the only sport for which three of the biggest titans of Bollywood, The Khans (Aamir, Salman and SRK) have been preparing for long.
Though, keeping in view the past record (Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander and Ghulam), Aamir had the brightest chances of fetching the gold, but on the other hand Salman and SRK also didn't leave any privation in their preparation and even started going to sets on their respective bicycles.
-
Ajay Devgn - Equestrian
He could have been a sure Olympic bet for Show Jumping. He was given a choice to opt for Equestrian because of owning a horse that is seen in Son of Sardar.
But all hell break loose for Ajay when he was refused a ticket to London and was asked to reach London of his own by his fleet of flying objects including cars used in Singham.
-
Aish and Hrithik - Fencing
Millions were astonished to see that how quickly Aish regained her pre-pregnancy curves, some even speculated that it's because she will be making a comeback soon.
But if gossip is to be believed, then actually it all happened because Aish wanted to make it to Fencing arena of London Olympics, for which she was preparing with co-star Hrithik since the conceptualisation of Jodha-Akhbar.
On the other hand Hrithik who would have secured a medal in men's Fencing event refused to go to London because 'Jaadoo' apprised Hrithik about his limitation as there would not be enough 'Dhoop' in overcast London, to charge him.
-
Shah Rukh Khan - Hockey
The sport that thoroughly disappointed the sports enthusiasts of India is Hockey, in which India finished last at the London Olympics.
Hockey India could have roped in Shah Rukh Khan as the coach of the Men's Hockey Team to assure a Gold in once favourite sport of the Indians.
-
Akshay Kumar - Judo
Ever since he stepped into the showbiz, Akki has constantly proved his dexterity in martial arts and Judo. He could have been a sure medal winner if he were taken to London.
The reason that the Indian Olympic Association developed cold feet was that Akshay Kumar has got Canadian citizenship and he was not part of the contingent to avoid unnecessary embarrassment to IOA.
-
Isha Sharvani
Because of her super flexible bod and her miraculous moves, this gorgeous damsel of Kisna and 'Jhalak Dikhla Ja' could have definitely secured at least one Gold in Gymnastics if she had gone to London.
But unfortunately, out of Olympics and 'Jhalak Dikhla Ja', Isha opted for the latter due to assured returns.
-
Lara Dutta - Swimming
Another game where India could have registered a glorious victory by securing a medal is swimming, in which leggy lass Lara Dutta was India's hope.
But Lara too couldn't make it to London, because if she too would have accompanied Mahesh to Olympics then who would have taken care of their newly born Lil angel. Hence, we lost another medal in the absence of Lara.
